There are many things I miss about Hong Kong when I'm away. Humidity is not one of them. Never have I ever thought to myself: if only the humidity were higher.
Yet here I am. And to prove that I won't be deterred by the moist atmosphere, I just played an outdoor concert where I may have sweat my body weight while serenading an equally undeterred crowd.
I played alongside Brandon Fitzgerald, Ginger Kwan and Chochukmo (local indie band) in Wan Chai. With my guitar, ukulele and a keyboard, I sang in English, Cantonese and my never-ending attempt at Mandarin.
As much as I've given my heart to New York, looking out at the awesomely diverse crowd (in age, nationality, fashion sense...) and responding with my mishmash tunes, I'm reminded this is no doubt where I'm from -- a literal (thank you humidity) melting pot.
I'll be in Hong Kong through June 13th, catch me at my next 3 shows coming up on June 1st, 8th and 11th. Would love to see you! Click here for details.
